The windows in the upper corners of the painting were a wonderful opportunity. What better way to demonstrate unreality than via the incongruity of a bright, cheerful day versus the vision of towers and tornados through the door. Yet these windows themselves are complicitous— sunshine and spiffy brickwork, shattered and missing glass.
